TAIMEI Gallery opened in Ginza, Tokyo, years ago. Since then, it has focused on modern domestic and foreign western-style
paintings, including Impressionist School works. It is well-known as the
first gallery in Japan to have held an exhibition of Chagall’s posthumous
works. The gallery has also made efforts to promote young artists since
opening, and has especially focused in recent years on contemporary Asian
art, including emerging Japanese artists.
The Ginza gallery has two exhibition spaces on its first floor and basement,
both of which are salon-style to enable leisurely viewing of paintings
in a relaxed manner. The gallery also stocks a large number of works by
both foreign and domestic artists to answer to a wide range of requests
from buyers of all ages and budgets. Many art collectors are also familiar
with this gallery, and visit it for its exhibitions held about ten times
a year, as well as for its regular displays of the more than 1,000 items
it holds in stock.
